WYE MOUNTAIN CHURCH DAFFODIL FIELD

Every spring this field fills with acres upon acres of screaming yellow daffodils and thousands of citizens from all over central Arkansas just seem to show up with their blankets and picnic baskets. It's an informal local festival, never advertised because they don't know exactly when the bulbs will bloom; but every Easter there's a photo of Wye Mountain on the front page of the Democrat-Gazette.

The fifty-member Wye Mountain United Methodist Church owns the field and sales of daffodils ($1 per dozen) pay the minister's salary.

To get to Wye, travel west on highway 10 from Little Rock and turn north on 113 at the upper end of Lake Maumelle.
